Spain hosts Romania
Spain hosts Romania at the beautiful Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid in a game from the last round of the Euro 2020 qualifiers. La Roja already won this group, while Romania will try to keep the third place ahead of Norway.
With 7 wins and 2 draws so far, Spain already won Group F. Just as we expected them to do. La Roja have 5 points advantage in front of the second Sweden, just one round before the end of the campaign. They are now untouachable at the top.
This was not an easy campaign for Spain, because the manager Luis Enrique had to leave the position because of personal reasons. He was replaced by his assistant Robert Moreno, who continued his work. Moreno did well enough to qualify Spain for the Euro 2020 as a winner in the group.
Few days ago La Roja hosted Malta in Cadiz and enjoyed a spectacular 7-0 win. It was curious that seven different players scored for the hosts, among them the debutants Pau Torres and Dani Olmo. The other who scored were Alvaro Morata, Santi Cazorla, Pablo Sarabia, Gerard Moreno and Jesus Navas.
Against Romania Robert Moreno could rotate his line-up a little bit. Players like Saul, Gaya, Fabian Ruiz and Mikel Oyarzabal didn’t play against Malta, so they could find themselves starting in the last match from the group.
Romania are third in this group with 14 points, having the same amount of points as the fourth Norway. In the same time Norway visits Malta, so most likely Romania will lose the third place, if they don’t win in Madrid. Of course, they can hope that Malta will beat Norway, but it’s a pretty long shot.
In their last match the Balkan side hosted Sweden, but suffered a 0-2 loss.
Despite of already being qualified for the European championship, we expect to see Spain motivated to win this game at the Wanda Metropolitano. For Romania this match is more important, but it’s going to be really difficult for them.
