Sevilla – Inter Milan

Sevilla – Inter Milan

The Europa League will have a new champion after just a few days. Sevilla and Inter Milan will face each other in Koln and one of them will lift the important trophy. But which one? Let’s preview it.

Sevilla will try to cement their place as the most successful club in the history of Europa League. So far Los Rojiblancos have won the trophy five times which is impressive. Just few days ago the Spaniards eliminated Manchester United from the competition, showing everyone how good they are.

It was not an easy game against United. The Red Devils opened the score after just 9 minutes of playing, but Suso equalised for Julen Lopetegui’s team. The conclusion came at the end of the game. Jesus Navas crossed the ball in the penalty area where Luuk de Jong headed it past David De Gea. It was a memorable night for Sevilla despite the lack of fans at the stands.

Lopetegui took some interesting decisions. He left Munir and Luuk de Jong on the bench opting to the trio Ocampos – En-Nesyri-Suso in attack. On Friday the manager will have to take some difficult decisions again.

Inter Milan made a huge statement on Monday when they crushed Shakhtar Donetsk with 5-0 in the other 1/2-final. The Nerazzurri’s deadly duo Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez scored four of the goals while Danilo D’Ambrosio also put the ball in the net. It was one of Inter’s best games in Europe for the season.

Inter Milan’s manager Antonio Conte is aiming to win his first European trophy in his career as a head coach. The same could be said about Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui as well. We expect a terrific tactical duel between these two managers.

Be sure to watch the Europa League final between Sevilla and Inter Milan on Friday. Two great teams are facing each other, so we expect some fireworks there.

Club Brugge hosts Manchester United

Club Brugge hosts Manchester United

Club Brugge hosts Manchester United at the Jan Breydelstadion in a match from the 1/16-finals of the Europa League. This is a first leg between these two teams. Let’s see what’s going on with them.

Club Brugge entered Europa League after a participation in the group stage of the Champions League. The Belgian team beat Galatasaray for the third place in Group A, which allowed them to reach the second best competition on the continent. They did it despite of the fact that they won just three points in the group – all of them from draws.

For Club Brugge this is a fine season so far. They progressed to Europa League and they are currently leaders in the Belgian First Division A, losing just one game in 26 played so far. Brugge are unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competition. Few days ago they secured their 18th win in the First Division A, beating Waasland-Beveren with 2-1 at home.

Manchester United had a fairly calm campaign in the Europa League’s group stage. The Red Devils comfortably won their group with four wins, one draw and one loss, qualifying for the 1/16-finals. United will try to win the competition again after their triumph under Jose Mourinho in 2017. This could be their ticket towards a return to the Champions League and they know it very well.

The manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is usually mixing the team when it comes to Europa League, but let’s see how he will do during the knockout phase. He must be happy with his players right now after the 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday.

Manchester United approach this game against Club Brugge in a role of a favourite, but the Belgians could give them some trouble. Even a draw would be a good result here for United before the second leg at the Old Trafford.

AZ hosts Manchester United

AZ hosts Manchester United

AZ hosts Manchester United at the Cars Jeans Stadion in Den Haag in a match from Group L of Europa League.

AZ are seeking their first win in the competition for this season, although it’s not going to be easy against Manchester United, of course. In the first round of the group phase AZ travelled to the Serbian capital Belgrade in order to face Partizan. The Dutch side won a point after a 2-2 draw, despite of the red card which the Norwegian right back Jonas Svensson recieved after just 27 minutes of playing.

Calvin Stengs and Myron Boadu scored for the visitors, while Partizan didn’t find a way to use the advantage to play with a man more on the pitch.

Manchester United are the current leader in this group. Two weeks ago the Red Devils hosted Kazakhstan’s champion Astana at the Old Trafford, enjoying a 1-0 win. The hosts had to wait until the 73 minute in order to score a winner. It was the teenager Mason Greenwood, who put the ball in the net after an assist from Fred. Greenwood played the whole 90 minutes for United, proving once again that he’s one of the club’s brightest talents at the moment.

Just few days ago Manchester United had a Premier League derby against Arsenal at the Theatre of Dreams. Scott McTominay opened the score for the Red Devils, but the Gunners secured a point after an equalising goal from Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

It’d be curious to see what kind of a line-up the manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will choose for the visit to the Netherlands. We expect that many youngsters will find a place in the starting eleven once again. Mason Greenwood entered the pitch as a substitute against Arsenal, but against AZ it’s a perfect chance for him to start.

We think that AZ and Manchester United will offer us a very competitive game in Europa League, so be careful with your picks here. We wish you good luck.

Atletico Madrid – Eibar

Atletico Madrid – Eibar

Atletico Madrid hosts Eibar in a game from the third round of the Spanish La Liga. After winning two wins in the first two rounds, Atletico will try to make it three in a row. Eibar on the other hand won just one point from the first two games.

Atletico’s start of the season was entirely in their own style. Diego Simeone’s boys won both of the game with their favourite result – 1-0. After the win against Getafe in the first round, Los Colchoneros did the same against Leganes far from home.

It was a tough game for Atletico at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque. Los Colchoneros had to wait 71 minutes before scoring a winner. The summer signing Joao Felix provided an assist which the substitute Vitolo turned into a goal.

Right now Atletico Madrid are second in La Liga with 6 points, being only behind Sevilla because of goal difference.

Eibar won just a point from their first two games in the league. Los Armeros lost against Mallorca in the first round, while in the second one they won a point during the visit to Osasuna. The game at El Sadar ended with a 0-0 draw, so both teams went home with a point. Eibar’s head coach Mendilibar put Sergi Enrich and Kike in attack, but they were not able to beat Ruben and score a winner. In the second half Mendilibar put Charles, Exposito and Pedro Leon on the pitch, but Osasuna’s defense stood well.

Atletico Madrid are the clear favourite against Eibar on Sunday, especially at their own Wanda Metropolitano. Los Colchoneros are eager to fight again for the title and the two wins in the first two rounds are proving that. If Cholo Simeone and his boys want to win the gold, they must win games like this at any cost.

Rennes – Arsenal

Rennes hosts Arsenal in a first game from the Europa League 1/8-finals. Allow us to take a look at this fixture and see what’s the situation with these two teams at the moment.

In the previous round of the competition Rennes achieved a win over Real Betis. The first leg on French soil ended with a 3-3 draw, which gave Betis some advantage before the rematch. But it got really different at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, where Rennes enjoyed a 3-1 win. The French team won the game with goals from Rami Bensebaini, Adrien Hunou and Mbaye Niang, while Giovani Lo Celso’s goal for Betis did not change anything.

In the French Ligue 1 Rennes are currently at the middle of the table, being 10th with 37 points won so far. They are surely having an average season so far, but this could change if they manage to eliminate a club like Arsenal from Europa League.

Arsenal suffered a surprising defeat against BATE Borisov in a first 1/16-finals game, but in the second leg the Gunners did their job against the Belarusians and won with 3-0. BATE’s Volkov scored himself an own goal, while Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papasthathopoulos also put the ball in the net for the Gunners.

Arsenal will surely try to win Europa League this season. Not just because it’s a prestigious trophy, but also because it’s not guaranteed that the Gunners will finish in the Top 4 of the Premier League. Winning Europa League could be Arsenal’s key to the Champions League for next season and the manager Unai Emery knows this very well.

Rennes will have a tough task against Arsenal on Thursday night, but it won’t be easy for Arsenal as well. We have all the reasons to expect a great clash between these two teams.

Dinamo Zagreb – Viktoria Pilzen

Dinamo Zagreb faces Viktoria Pilzen in a second 1/16-finals clash from Europa League. Let’s head out to the Croatian capital Zagreb in order to see what’s going on between these two teams.

Viktoria Pilzen have a slight advantage after a 2-1 win in the first leg. Daniel Olmo gave Dinamo Zagreb a lead in Pilzen, but the Czech team turned the game around with goals from the central defender Ludk Pernica. It’s a rare thing to see a defender scoring two goals in one game, but this is exactly what happened in Pilzen.

This win gives Viktoria an advantage before the second leg, but this away goal scored from Dinamo could be very important.

In the Croatian 1. NHL Dinamo Zagreb are marching towards the title, having 14 points advantage in front of the 2nd Osijek. From 21 games played in the league so far, Dinamo lost only one of them. In their last five games they are just perfect – five consecutive wins. There’s no doubt that Dinamo Zagreb will be once again champions of Croatia at the end of the season.

Meanwhile Viktoria Pilzen are 2nd in the Czech Liga with 3 points behind the leader Slavia Praha. Viktoria have lost just 2 games in the league so far, but they are still behind the leader. In their last five games in the league Viktoria are almost perfect – four wins and one draw.

In their last league game Viktoria Pilzen enjoyed a 2-0 win against the leader Slavia Praha, which ressurected their chances of winning the title. Toma Chory and Jean David Beauguel scored for Viktoria in this derby.

Viktoria Pilzen have a slight advantage against Dinamo Zagreb in Europa League, but the Croatian team is still in a good position to eliminate its opponent. It’s going to be a tough game for both teams.

BATE Borisov – Arsenal

BATE Borisov welcomes Arsenal in another one of the UEFA Europa League 1/16-finals. The first game between these two sides is going to get played in Belarus. Let’s see what’s going on with them.

BATE reached the 1/16-finals of the Europa League after finishing 2nd in Group L. They were beaten for the first place by Chelsea, which was far from surprising, of course. BATE ended their participation in the group with 9 points and a record of 3 wins and 3 losses. They managed to beat Hungary’s MOL Vidi and Greece’s PAOK for the second position in the group.

In the Belarusian Premier League BATE are marching towards another title. They are leaders in the standings with 9 points advantage in front of the 2nd Shakhtyor. They have lost just 3 games so far from 30 matches played.

Last season Arsenal were eliminated by Atletico Madrid in Europa League, but now the Gunners are desperate to reach the final and fight for the trophy. Unai Emery’s team didn’t have any problems to win Group E of the competition, finishing with a perfect record of 16 wins from 16 possible. So far Arsenal are showing some great commitment to Europa League, showing everyone that they are taking this competition pretty seriously.

In the Premier League the Gunners are fighting for a Top 4 finish. Right now Emery’s team is 5th in the league with 50 points, being just 1 point behind the 4th Manchester United. In their last five games Arsenal won three times, but also suffered two losses. In their last match Emery’s boys achieved a 2-1 win during the visit to Huddersfield Town.

That’s what we had to say about the Europa League clash between BATE Borisov and Arsenal on Thursday night. Good luck!
